INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone! Today in this article I will talk about one interesting tool designed to connect the Git protocol with Web 3.0. It’s about INV4-GIT, developed by the InvArch Network team. But first, it’s worth making a small introduction, which will explain many things for those who are not familiar with programming and everything connected with it. This is necessary in order to help people who are not in the subject to understand it and understand the full significance and revolutionary nature of this tool in the field of development.

It’s worth starting by getting to know the people who developed INV4-GIT–the team at InvArch. InvArch Network specializes in the protection of intellectual property using cryptographic technologies, namely for this it uses blockchain and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Blockchain functions are used to record all information about intellectual property and its rights (who owns it and who can use it). Functions for the creation, protection and support of intellectual property are performed by three protocols: the INV4 protocol, the XCA (Cross-Chain Authentication) protocol and the OCIF (On-chain Innovation Funding) protocol. But today I will focus on the INV4 protocol, because it is of greater importance in today’s topic of conversation. But this does not diminish the merits and importance of the other two protocols, I will talk about them some other time, so as not to deviate from the topic of the article.

The INV4 protocol is responsible for storing intellectual property assets as records in the blockchain in the form of NFTs called IP Files, which, in turn, are collected like any other NFTs via collections called IP Sets. The owners of such assets can create fungible tokens with different rights to it (called IP Tokens) in order to dispose of them at their own discretion. By the same principle, INV4-GIT will work exactly the same, but with different versions of the code.

An important component of the INV4-GIT tool, as you could already understand by the name, is the Git technology. Git is a distributed version control system that was invented by the creator of Linux, Linus Torvalds, in 2005 in order to save program code at different stages of its development. This is necessary when the programmer had to either roll back to the previous version of the code due to the unstable operation of the current one, or when several people in the team are working on the same code and everyone could develop in parallel with each other. Each version of the code is stored in a separate repository — an accessible storage location, a kind of folder in which different versions of the same code can be stored at different times in its development.

Today, it is almost impossible to imagine the work of a programmer without using the Git tool because it is an important and very useful tool in the development of anything by developers. But then a logical question arises: if the InvArch team decided to offer their own analogue of this tool, then most likely other versions of Git somehow do not satisfy users? I will say in advance that yes, it is, but I will give a more detailed answer in the next chapter.

WHAT IS INV4-GIT?

Created by InvArch Ambassador ALKANE09#3809

As discussed above, INV4-GIT is a tool that bridges the Git protocol with Web 3.0 to implement decentralized version control and blockchain-based hosting for Git repositories where they can be stored online and thus become NFT primitives.

A very important feature that sets INV4-GIT apart from other Git like GitHub or GitLab is that INV4-GIT is censorship resistant and provides true code ownership unlike the others. Recently, there has been a lot of news about blocking and deleting the accounts of most developers. And somewhere they even deleted the code itself due to user inactivity. It so happened that the means by which they wanted to preserve their work turned against them and, instead of preserving them, these means removed their work. This situation is definitely disappointing and it was the InvArch Network team that decided to come to the rescue of all developers by developing INV4-GIT, which saves the code in the blockchain block in the form of NFT, so that it cannot be deleted. Even situations such as server hacking and information leakage cannot happen in theory, because the INV4-GIT service by its nature has a decentralized hosting by its very nature.

INV4-GIT will be the first to be deployed on the Tinkernet Parachain blockchain, demonstrating not only its capabilities, but also testing Tinkernet itself. It will make the transition from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 as simple and easy as possible for all developers, and code submission, repository management, etc. will be exactly the same. So you don’t have to learn new unknown syntax from scratch. But what if I say that’s not all? The thing is, according to the InvArch Network team, INV4-GIT is a revolutionary Web 3.0-based git hosting middleware for *drumroll*… GitArch!

WHAT IS GITARCH?

Not much is known about GitArch at the moment, because it has only been in development for a few months, but all the advantages that were in INV4-GIT will be transferred to it. It’s also worth mentioning that your code is copyrighted, which means it can’t be stolen or passed off as someone else’s. This will be a very big project. The first demos came out in mid-September and at the same time the team announced a beta testing of GitArch, in which 10 teams can participate and receive a generous reward in the form of 50k $TNKR tokens and Commemorative NFTs.

This is only 4 weeks of participation, so I advise you not to miss this moment (Registration for the GitArch Private Beta event closes on September 28th, 8PM (UTC))! If you are well versed in Git and are ready to help the team identify all the errors, shortcomings, or even offer some of your own ideas. The InvArch team very often discusses the operation and functionality of GitArch on Community Calls and at the various AMA sessions they attend as a guest. This kind of progression through explaining why and why GitArch is being developed is very helpful and makes people more eagerly awaiting its release.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I would like to note that INV4-GIT and the subsequent GitArch after it came at the right time for developers. Decentralization and lack of censorship should be present in every area where a person manifests himself and creates things for the benefit of the whole society. In an environment where you can’t even share the code with others for fear that it will be deleted or simply lost, it is very difficult to create something. But InvArch Network is trying to do everything possible to create a comfortable environment for absolutely everyone who has embarked on the path of improvement and correction of the problems that surround us. After all, this is what we live for — to make the lives of people around us a little better and easier 😉.

Thank you all for reading this article. I hope you enjoyed it. It took a lot of time to study the material, so I put off the release of the article for a long time and overdue all the deadlines. Next time I’ll try to keep it within the time frame. Don’t go far! Lots of cool stuff are coming soon!
